Policy for Supporting Legislation
The work of the California Partnership for the San Joaquin Valley is comprehensive, and legislation may be required to successfully implement the Strategic Action Proposal. To ensure thoughtful consideration of legislative proposals, the Partnership follows three guiding principles:
Innovation within systems and structures -- Many of the Proposal’s recommendations can be carried out through creativity, collaboration and innovation within existing systems and structures. However, there will be issues related to the implementation of the Strategic Action Plan that will require legislative action.
Seek to build consensus -- The Partnership seeks to build consensus among the region’s leaders. However, there will be instances a formal position on an issue will be required.
Limit consideration of support for legislation -- The Partnership limits its consideration of legislative items to those that directly relate to the implementation of the Strategic Action Plan.
